Our Spätburgunder Tradition grows in Briedel, where my parents planted the vines in the early 90s – and every year since, we've kept refining it. Hand-harvested, organically farmed, traditionally fermented open on the skins and aged in Grandpa's old, large wooden cask. This bottle is a late bottling of the 2022, matured with a little extra time in the cask.
In the glass it sparkles a fresh ruby red, with wild berries and sour cherry on the nose. On the palate it's lively and cheerful, with lovely lasting structure and silky tannin. We love it lightly chilled in summer, and in autumn and winter it's one of our favourites – it even has a rather calming, enchanting effect on me personally.
An absolute value-for-pleasure pick for every Spätburgunder lover: you won't easily find this ratio anywhere else. Spätburgunder, by the way, is the German name for the world-famous Pinot Noir – and on the Mosel it grows on slate soils you rarely find elsewhere.
VINUM German Red Wine Award 2026, 90 points: “Gingerbread, raspberry and strawberry. Lighter-footed on the palate, juicy and marked by fine fruit concentration.” (Harald Scholl, VINUM 11/2026, translated from German)
