Viewpoints and excursions in the region
The Prinzenkopf tower in neighbouring Pünderich offers one of the region's most impressive views over the Mosel loop and the steep vineyards. Near Zell, a detour to the Marienburg is worthwhile – a monastery ruin with a wide view over the Mosel valley. A little further away, but well worth the trip: the Geierlay Skywalk in the Hunsrück, one of Germany's longest suspension bridges, around 40 minutes by car from Reil.
Larger cities nearby
Bernkastel-Kues, Traben-Trarbach and Cochem are all centrally located and easy to reach from Reil. If you have a bit more time, Koblenz (around 50 minutes by car) or Trier (around 45 minutes by car) also make comfortable day trips.
Hiking along the Mosel
The Moselsteig trail runs right through Reil, offering views over the vineyards and the river again and again. If you prefer a more relaxed pace, use the Mosel cycle path – with over 248 kilometres, one of Germany's most popular river cycling routes, running along both banks of the Mosel.
