2025 Spätburgunder R Dry

For the R, we select the best vines on the estate – old vines, slate sites, plenty of hand work for the smallest of yields. We're not officially allowed to put it on the label, but between us: most of the grapes come from the Reiler Goldlay, from old vines my parents once planted. Spontaneously fermented in traditional open vats – as with all our red wines – and aged in small oak barrels.

The R stands for Reserve. Some joke it's actually reserved for Richard.

The R is our warmer, more powerful style: more volume, more depth. On the nose, ripe vineyard peaches with a touch of pepper. Despite its power it stays wonderfully drinkable and simply fun – with an ageing potential that keeps it exciting for a long time yet. There's very little of this wine, but we're glad to share it with you.
